Xiong'an New Area: A Rising Hub for Technological Innovation in China

The development of Xiong'an as a 'city of the future' attracts high-tech companies and fosters an innovative ecosystem.
XIONG'AN, Hebei Province, April 1 -- The Xiong'an New Area, established as part of China's initiative for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, is emerging as a center for technological innovation and high-tech enterprises.

This modern urban area is designed to be smart, sustainable, and free from traditional urban challenges.

An example of the thriving entrepreneurial environment is Mech-Mind Robotics, a unicorn company that specializes in robotic technology.

The company, known for integrating advanced systems into traditional robotic arms, has recently relocated its headquarters to Xiong'an from Beijing.

Mech-Mind Robotics exports its products to over 50 countries and aims to leverage the resources and opportunities available in Xiong'an to expand its operations significantly.

Zhang Dan, head of the president's office at Mech-Mind Robotics, expressed confidence in the future potential in Xiong'an, stating that the city presents an ideal setting for scaling their operations significantly.

Since its announcement in April 2017, Xiong'an has steadily developed, with the urban layout becoming increasingly defined as it seeks to attract high-tech businesses that align with its strategic vision.

The Xiong'an New Area Zhongguancun Science Park, a part of this development, has quickly become home to over 140 companies, while embodying the innovative spirit reminiscent of Beijing's Zhongguancun, also known as 'China's Silicon Valley.'

Among the companies flourishing in the science park is Xiong'an Xingyuan Technology Co., Ltd., which focuses on cutting-edge technologies including the metaverse, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI).

Launched just a year ago, the company has been recognized for its rapid development and has cultivated cooperative relationships with other enterprises, aided by a supportive local environment that facilitates networking and partnerships.

Gong Wentong, CEO of Xiong'an Xingyuan, highlighted the efficient business registration process, recalling that his company received its business license on the same day it was registered.

This efficiency, along with government support, plays a critical role in fostering innovation among startups.

Similarly, Zhijue Intelligent, a smaller firm emphasizing LiDAR technology applications, reports positive experiences through collaborations within the science park.

Deputy General Manager Wang Ling noted the wealth of opportunities for communication and networking among her peers, complemented by favorable local policies promoting industry growth.

The Xiong'an administration has enacted various incentive measures aimed at attracting talent in high-tech sectors, particularly in aerospace information, AI, and new materials.

Regular competitions are also held to recognize and support innovative projects, with rewards including housing and workspace subsidies to encourage proactive entrepreneurship.

The rapid infrastructural development in Xiong'an has significantly improved living conditions, addressing prior concerns among residents.

Public facilities, including schools and hospitals, are being gradually opened, supporting a growing community as families relocate to the area.

Liu Jingjing, general manager of the science park, emphasized plans to strengthen the industrial cluster focusing on AI and robotics, anticipating a further influx of companies that will contribute to the region’s scientific and technological advancements.

This collaborative environment aims to benefit businesses, attract talent, and enhance the overall quality of life for the citizens of Xiong'an.
