BEIJING, April 2 -- An event hosted by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Beijing gathered 70 foreign diplomats from 43 countries and international organizations to share their views and firsthand experiences of the region.

The gathering provided a platform for the envoys to present statistical data and personal accounts regarding their interactions with Xinjiang.

More than 300 million tourists visited Xinjiang last year, and the region created 483,200 new urban jobs.

Pakistani Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, noted the significant scope of progress within the region, underscoring that "numbers and actions speak louder than words." He highlighted his visits to various locations across Xinjiang, including Urumqi, Kashgar, and the Pakistan-China border, observing evident advancements in infrastructure, green energy initiatives, digital economy frameworks, and a willingness to welcome further global engagement.

Bolivia's Ambassador to China, Hugo Siles, remarked on Xinjiang's commitment to fostering multi-ethnic cultures, enabling diverse communities to maintain their unique identities.

He expressed enthusiasm for the region’s achievements in economic growth, technological advancements, and cultural preservation, indicating his eagerness to return.

Xinjiang holds a strategic position along the historic Silk Road and possesses unique geographical advantages that facilitate China's high-level engagement with the global economy.

Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), emphasized Xinjiang’s role as a crucial land bridge for trade between China and SCO member states.

He noted that initiatives like the Urumqi International Land Port and Kashi Economic Development Zone are enhancing regional cooperation.

Uzbekistan's Ambassador to China, Farhod Arziev, stated that Xinjiang serves as the primary corridor for trade with China.

He referenced significant transportation projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway initiative, which aims to create new avenues for business and investment.

The foreign diplomats expressed a desire to further explore Xinjiang, citing opportunities to learn about effective desertification management practices and to experience the region's diverse landscapes, including meadows and mountainous terrains.

As the event concluded, Ambassador Hodan expressed her eagerness to organize a visit to Xinjiang in the near future.
