China's Commitment to Economic Opening and Collaboration Highlighted at Indonesia-China Business Reception

Premier Li Qiang emphasizes China's growth potential and stable development as a foundation for global business engagement.
JAKARTA, May 24 — Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced at the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 that China will persist in its efforts to expand its economic opening, aiming to create a more conducive environment for foreign enterprises operating in the country.

Premier Li emphasized that the Chinese economy continues to possess substantial growth potential, which he believes will present new opportunities for global development.

Addressing business leaders and dignitaries at the event, Li noted that the stable economic trajectories of both China and Indonesia contribute positively to the global economy amid rising uncertainties and protectionism.

He highlighted the importance of robust economic ties in fostering mutual growth and ensuring business certainty.

At a separate event in Beijing, the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025, delegates from around the world expressed optimism about collaboration with China.

Business representatives acknowledged the potential within the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial cooperation, indicative of China's ongoing commitment to innovation in various sectors.

Sherard Cowper-Coles, chairman of the China-Britain Business Council, remarked that British companies are keen to explore development opportunities with China, citing not only financial incentives but also the innovative environment present in the country.

The summit, which attracted over 800 participants from government bodies and international organizations, focused on themes surrounding digital intelligence and shared progress.

The completion of negotiations for the Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) further reinforces China's dedication to enhancing trade relationships within the region.

This upgraded agreement includes nine new chapters addressing the digital economy, green economy, and supply chain connectivity, reflecting a collaborative approach to regional economic integration.

Low Kian Chuan, president of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, reaffirmed China's leadership in free trade, suggesting that technological improvement and productivity enhancement could be achieved through deeper collaboration between ASEAN countries and China.

The CAFTA upgrade is viewed as crucial for stabilizing industrial chains and fostering shared prosperity.

Emerging business confidence is echoed in reports by significant global firms.

For example, Toyota's recent investment of approximately 2.03 billion U.S. dollars in Shanghai and AstraZeneca's commitment of 2.5 billion U.S. dollars for a research and development center in Beijing underscore the opportunities that foreign entities perceive in the Chinese market.

Furthermore, businesses such as Panasonic are amplifying their investments in China based on positive forecasts for the new energy sector, aiming to strengthen their presence in this area.

Panasonic's executive leadership has indicated plans for increased investment in capacity expansion and innovative manufacturing processes.

As China aims to foster an open global economy through continuous development, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has pledged to enhance support services for foreign investors and expand international collaboration initiatives.

This commitment aims to effectively address emerging trends and foster greater business engagements on a global scale.
