Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe Tashkent Center Inaugurated in Uzbekistan

New logistics facility enhances China’s trade connectivity in Central Asia and beyond.
The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe Tashkent Consolidation Center was inaugurated in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Monday, reflecting China's efforts to bolster its trade connections with Central Asia and European markets.

The center, covering 4.57 hectares, is strategically located approximately 20 kilometers from Tashkent's city center and major railway stations.

It includes a 6,000-square-meter warehouse, a 600-square-meter office facility, and a 35,000-square-meter paved yard, supplemented by a dedicated 1,200-meter railway line.

Total investments in the center are approximately $9 million.

The facility is designed to provide tailored services to enterprises involved in trade in Uzbekistan.

It features capacity for both empty and loaded containers, with designated rail lines for efficient cargo movement and a customs-supervised warehouse to offer bonded storage, which simplifies customs clearance and warehousing processes.

As a core consolidation and distribution hub, the center will manage a diverse array of imports, including electrical appliances, polyester chips, and machinery, in addition to Uzbek exports such as cotton yarn, potassium chloride, and mung beans.

These goods can be assembled and dispatched via the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train service.

Furthermore, the center operates as an international transit hub, facilitating the consolidation of goods from neighboring nations for re-export to China and further destinations.

Cargo arriving in Tashkent from China and various regions is redistributed by rail and truck to Central Asian markets including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan.

The establishment of this center is part of China’s broader initiative to enhance logistics infrastructure through the China-Europe cargo train network, which has spurred the development of similar facilities, including the Małaszewicze terminal in Poland, which has seen significant economic benefits.

To date, the China-Europe Railway Express has conducted over 105,000 trips, which includes both outbound and return journeys.

Domestically, it operates 93 scheduled routes at speeds reaching 120 kilometers per hour, connecting 125 cities in China alone, while internationally it serves 227 cities in 25 European countries and over 100 cities across 11 Asian nations.

Experts note that the growing freight train services have significantly improved cross-border trade and economic exchanges, optimizing transportation efficiency and reducing delivery times among nations participating in China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe Tashkent Consolidation Center marks a significant step in the expansion of trade routes in the region and aims to further enhance the China-Europe freight train supply chain.
