In an impressive display of talent, Chinese divers Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan achieved a one-two finish in the women's 10-meter platform final at the Diving World Cup held in Guadalajara, Mexico, on April 5, 2025. This event marks the first Diving World Cup of the year and showcased the prowess of the Chinese diving contingent.

Chen Yuxi, who is 19 years old, and the seasoned three-time Olympic gold medalist Quan Hongchan began the competition with strong performances in the qualification rounds, where Quan secured the top position.

The competition intensified in the finals as the two divers competed closely, with Quan leading Chen by 2.7 points after the first two rounds.

In the third round, the two athletes diverged in their dive choices.

Chen executed a 626C dive, earning a score of 89.10 points, while Quan opted for the 6243D dive but experienced difficulties during her entry, which resulted in a score of 75.20 points.

This performance allowed Chen to take the lead overall after three rounds, with the duo significantly ahead of the third-place diver by more than 50 points.

Chen continued to extend her lead with a remarkable fourth-round dive, scoring 84.15 points.

Her final dive, a 5253B, garnered an additional 76.80 points, culminating in a winning total of 419.35 points.

Quan finished the final with a strong effort, achieving a score of 88.00 points in her last dive, bringing her total to 414.40 points, securing her second position.

Britain's Andrea Spendolini Sirieix claimed third place with a score of 337.70 points.

In the men’s 10-meter synchronized diving final, Chinese divers Zhu Zifeng and Cheng Zilong also delivered an exceptional performance.

Initially leading after two rounds with a combined score of 102.60 points, the duo faced a challenge in the third round as they were overtaken by Mexico’s Randal Willars Valdez and Kevin Berlin Reyes.

However, Zhu and Cheng quickly regained their composure, scoring 90.78 points in the fourth round to reclaim the lead.

They ultimately finished the competition with a total score of 449.49 points, winning the gold medal with a margin of 14.04 points over the Mexican pair.

Ruslan Ternovoi and Nikita Shleikher completed the podium, taking third place.

These results underscore the continued dominance of China in the diving realm as they kicked off the Diving World Cup season with impressive performances and significant medals.
