Since the implementation of a 240-hour visa-free transit policy on December 17, 2024, China has seen a marked increase in international visitors.

From December to March, 8.885 million foreign nationals entered the country, representing a 34.9% rise compared to the same period in 2024.

This growth corresponds with China's efforts to enhance its unilateral visa-free policy, which now encompasses 38 countries, permitting stays of up to 30 days for tourists.

Data from the Beijing Border Inspection Terminal indicates over 1 million people have transited through Beijing Daxing International Airport in the current year, including approximately 211,000 foreign arrivals, reflecting an increase of around 67.9% over the previous year.

In Yunnan province, the Mohan border point has emerged as a pivotal location for tourism, particularly for travelers from ASEAN nations.

The Kunming-Mohan Land Port has welcomed the first ASEAN visa-free tour group, which marks a significant step in regional tourism collaboration.

To support this effort, the checkpoint has established information-sharing mechanisms with educational institutions and created dedicated channels for international students.

In 2024, the Mohan border facility recorded over 2.848 million people checking in from 117 countries and regions.

Meanwhile, in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, the only airport applying the new visa-free transit policy in Northeast China, improvements in customs processing have been implemented.

Zhang Wei, deputy chief of the Harbin Border Inspection Station, reported that the number of manual verification lanes has increased from eight to twelve, and new express lanes have also been introduced to expedite passenger processing.
