China's Science and Technology Museums Surpass 100 Million Visits, While Mobile Projects Flourish

China's science and technology museums attract record visitors in 2024, enhancing scientific literacy across the nation.
In a landmark achievement for science popularization in 2024, China's science and technology museums welcomed over 100 million visitors for the first time, underlining the growing public interest in science and technology.

According to figures released by the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) in Beijing, these venues across 31 provincial-level regions, as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, received a total of 104 million visits last year.

This represents a 16.3% increase from the previous year.

The rise in visits to sci-tech museums is part of a broader trend of science engagement in China.

The country's mobile science popularization projects have also seen impressive results.

As of the end of 2024, mobile sci-tech museums toured 746 locations.

Additionally, the science popularization caravans traveled a cumulative 2.68 million kilometers to reach audiences nationwide, bringing scientific knowledge to both urban and rural areas.

Touching on digital platforms, China has also leveraged its partnership with popular online platform Douyin to expand the reach of science education.

Mobile science classes organized by the Ministry of Education, CSTM, and Douyin, attracted an impressive 350 million views, demonstrating the popularity of digital learning solutions.

This record engagement indicates China's commitment to enhancing scientific literacy among its population.

The rise in both physical and digital engagement with science aligns with broader national goals of fostering innovation and technological advancement among citizens.

As the global landscape increasingly leans toward technological solutions and innovations, such initiatives are pivotal in preparing future generations to engage with complex scientific concepts and technological applications.

Overall, the rising interest in science and technology within China is not only a testament to the effectiveness of these educational endeavors but also highlights the transformative power of integrating traditional and modern methods to inspire and educate people about science in dynamic and accessible ways.
