China's commitment to advancing public understanding of science and technology reached a significant milestone in 2024, as visits to the country's science and technology museums surpassed 100 million for the first time.

According to data released by the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) on Tuesday, a total of 104 million visits were recorded last year, reflecting a robust 16.3 percent increase from the previous year, 2023.

This remarkable growth in museum visits occurred across China's 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

The surge in attendance underscores the success of China's efforts to make scientific knowledge more accessible and engaging to its population.

Complementing the fixed museum facilities, China's mobile science popularization projects have also demonstrated impressive achievements.

By the end of 2024, mobile sci-tech museums had conducted tours in 746 locations nationwide.

Additionally, science popularization caravans embarked on journeys totaling 2.68 million kilometers, serving as educational conduits across diverse and often remote locales.

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the CSTM and the popular online platform Douyin, has furthered the reach of science education through mobile science classes.

These classes have been immensely popular, amassing over 350 million views on the internet.
