China's Humanoid Robots and Drones Propel Technological Advancement

Innovations in robotics and AI-driven drones highlight China's push towards digital and intelligent supply chains.
China is witnessing significant developments in the fields of humanoid robotics and drone technology, reflecting the country's commitment to advancing its technological capabilities.

Recent advancements include the rollout of humanoid robots in commercial settings and the rise of AI-powered drones for various applications.

In Hefei, a humanoid robot named Mornine has begun making its debut in Chery automobile 4S stores across Malaysia.

Mornine, standing at 1.67 meters tall and weighing 65 kilograms, is equipped with several advanced technologies, including 3D lidar and a panoramic camera, enabling it to autonomously navigate environments and interact with customers.

The initial delivery of 220 units, developed by Moga Technology Co., Ltd., marks a significant step in the commercialization of humanoid robots.

Zhang Guibin, the president of Moga Technology, stated that Mornine will be integrated into various sectors, initially focusing on automotive sales, and later expanding into public service venues and potentially households.

This initiative aligns with the expectations of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, which anticipates that the humanoid robot market in China could reach approximately 870 billion yuan (around 121 billion U.S. dollars) by 2030.

In addition to Mornine, other robotic developments include EngineAI’s launch of two humanoid models, including the versatile PM01, which features advanced joint movements and a capability of performing complex maneuvers such as dancing and assisting in security patrols.

EngineAI aims to distribute 1,000 units this year, targeting educational and security applications.

The industrial sector is also benefiting from robotic advancements.

Five Kuavo humanoid robots developed by Leju Robotics are set to enter production lines at FAW Hongqi, where they will facilitate logistics tasks.

Leju Robotics has designed these robots to navigate tight spaces, reflecting the industry's push towards integrating intelligent machines into manufacturing processes.

In parallel to developments in robotics, China's drone industry is also evolving rapidly.

The recent Drone World Congress in Shenzhen showcased over 5,000 drone models from 825 enterprises, highlighting innovations driven by artificial intelligence.

For instance, DJI's Matrice 4E autonomously captured data for the restoration of historical sites, further illustrating the expanding capabilities of drones in sectors such as infrastructure and emergency response.

The growth of civilian drone production is notable, with Shenzhen reporting a 48.2% increase in output in the first quarter of this year.

Companies like Wisson Robotics are integrating innovative technologies to enhance drone functionalities, enabling them to perform tasks previously deemed impossible.

Further, the Chinese government has initiated an action plan aimed at modernizing supply chains through digital and intelligent technologies, which includes AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain solutions.

The plan emphasizes the enhancement of agricultural supply chains and the optimization of logistics to improve efficiency across various sectors.

A target has been set to develop replicable models for intelligent supply chains by 2030, along with nurturing leading enterprises in this domain.

The developments in humanoid robotics, drone technology, and supply chain digitization collectively exemplify China's strategy in fostering innovation and enhancing its industrial landscape.
