In a move to cement and further strengthen bilateral relations, Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with Maulen Ashimbayev, chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan, in Beijing on January 13, 2025. This high-level engagement underscores the enduring commitment of both nations to the principles of mutual respect, good neighborliness, friendship, and win-win cooperation.

China and Kazakhstan share a history of strategic cooperation, characterized by deepening economic ties and collaborative ventures across sectors such as energy, trade, and transportation.

The meeting between Wang and Ashimbayev highlights the two countries’ ongoing efforts to accelerate these partnerships.

During their discussions, Wang Huning emphasized that bilateral relations have reached a new phase of rapid development, guided by the strategic alignment directed by leaders from both countries.

He reiterated the willingness of the CPPCC National Committee to intensify exchanges with Kazakhstan’s relevant institutions, fostering deeper diplomatic and economic ties.

In response, Maulen Ashimbayev expressed Kazakhstan’s dedication to collaborating with China on various global initiatives.

He expressed the Senate’s readiness to contribute to the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, all of which aim to promote shared global growth and security.

These commitments highlight Kazakhstan’s strategic alignment with China’s broader international policy framework.

The importance of this meeting is further underscored by the earlier engagement on the same day between Shi Taifeng, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, and the Kazakh delegation led by Ashimbayev.

These talks are indicative of active efforts to bolster inter-parliamentary dialogue and expand the spectrum of bilateral collaborations.

As China positions itself as a leading global player, its relationship with Kazakhstan—a key Central Asian partner—remains pivotal.
