In a significant rebound for China's tourism sector, Beijing has reported 3.94 million inbound tourism trips in 2024, marking an impressive 186.8 percent increase compared to the previous year.

This resurgence indicates a recovery trajectory that brings visitor numbers to 88.9 percent of those recorded in 2019, according to figures from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

Of the total inbound trips to Beijing, 729,000 were from residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, reflecting a 10.3 percent increase over 2019. International visitors accounted for 3.21 million of these trips, reaching 85.1 percent of the pre-pandemic figures.

This influx underscores the effectiveness of Beijing's efforts to revitalize its tourism industry amidst global travel resumption.

Over the past year, Beijing has implemented numerous measures to enhance its appeal as a destination for international tourists.

The city's initiatives to improve transportation, accommodation, shopping, and payment services have been pivotal in facilitating a better experience for visitors.

Additionally, the introduction of new tourism offerings, such as strolls and cycling along the picturesque Central Axis and lantern festival activities, have captivated a broad range of international tourists, as noted by the bureau.
