In a bid to foster cultural exchange and enhance tourism cooperation, China’s Hubei province conducted a promotional event in Christchurch, situated in New Zealand’s South Island.

The gathering underscored the longstanding connections between the two regions, as articulated by Chinese Consul General in Christchurch, He Ying.

Highlighting the historical parallels, Consul General He Ying evoked the legacy of Rewi Alley, a pivotal figure in the Sino-New Zealand relationship.

Born in Canterbury, Alley spent six decades in China, including extensive time in Hubei, contributing significantly to the bilateral friendship.

This visit by the Hubei delegation, as noted by He Ying, symbolizes a 'reunion of old friends,' emphasizing that such exchanges uphold and perpetuate Alley's enduring spirit of camaraderie for future generations.

Situated along the Yangtze River, Hubei province boasts a storied history and a wealth of cultural heritage.

It stands as an influential center within China, spanning economic, transportation, cultural, and educational domains.
