Over 100 international experts gathered to deliberate on the theoretical and practical frameworks essential for constructing ecological civilization, addressing necessary reforms across various sectors including politics, economics, business, education, and artificial intelligence.

Several experts emphasized that the concept of ecological civilization is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese culture.

Andrew Schwartz, an executive director at the Center for Process Studies, remarked on China's pioneering vision for ecological civilization, noting that the terminology originates from China and reflects the country's influence on global environmental discourse.

Clifford Cobb, a prominent U.S. scholar specializing in ecological civilization, highlighted the top-down nature of China's environmental initiatives, contrasting it with the fragmented efforts in the United States.

He pointed out that, unlike the U.S., where there is little cohesive national leadership on environmental issues, China has actively taken significant strides toward ecological goals.

Experts acknowledged not only the ambitious targets set by China but also the effective implementation of these initiatives.

Schwartz underlined that when China commits to green projects or poverty alleviation, it executes these plans with notable speed and efficiency, primarily contrasting this with the slower, often deliberative pace seen in the U.S.

David Schwerin, who has observed China's transformation through multiple visits since 2001, noted the extraordinary environmental changes occurring in the country.

He stresses that these advancements result from the government's determination and a shifting perspective among the population regarding ecological issues.

Attila Grandpierre, an astrophysicist from Hungary, expressed admiration for China's success in lifting millions out of extreme poverty, characterizing this achievement as exceptional on a global scale.

He contributed to the discussion on how a life-centered approach to ecological civilization enhances the overall condition of humanity and the environment.

The consensus among the participants was the necessity for collaborative international efforts to foster ecological civilization.

Schwartz likened the exchange of ideas at the forum to the improvisational nature of jazz music, emphasizing the synergy created through global dialogue.

The International Forum on Ecological Civilization has been convening since 2006, co-organized by leading institutions including the Center for Process Studies and the Institute for Postmodern Development of China, alongside the municipal government of Claremont.
