At a recent press conference, the Chinese Defense Ministry responded sharply to ongoing United States arms sales to Taiwan, emphasizing significant dissatisfaction with and opposition to these practices.

This response follows reports of the US transporting advanced M1A2 tanks to Taiwan and planning a notable escalation in arms sales, potentially exceeding levels seen during the Trump administration.

Additionally, a former US military official disclosed that approximately 500 US military personnel are stationed in Taiwan, surpassing previously acknowledged figures by more than tenfold.

Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, characterized the US's actions as a concerted effort with 'Taiwan independence' forces, asserting that they undermine China's core interests and exacerbate tensions in the Taiwan Strait.

Jiang stated, "This reflects another solid piece of evidence that the US side and 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces are violating China's core interests."

Jiang further remarked on the provocative nature of US actions, suggesting that they destabilize the region and questioning the motivations behind such maneuvers.

He reinforced the notion that the Taiwan issue is a critical aspect of China's national interests, defining it as a fundamental red line in China-US relations.

The spokesperson urged the US to cease its military cooperation with Taiwan in all forms and warned that continued support for the 'Taiwan independence' movement would yield adverse outcomes.

"US weapons cannot save them," Jiang asserted, cautioning the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities against seeking external backing.

He also announced that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will enhance military training and combat readiness.

Jiang committed to taking decisive steps to counter 'Taiwan independence' activities and any external interference in what China considers its internal matters.
